Alta Vista Meta tags are recognized. Use both upper and lower case in keywords.
Yahoo is just great for searches for a specific business. It is separated into categories, so you can narrow your search quite quickly. Indexing takes over a month. No Meta tags. Not case sensitive.
Exite Sometimes this one will come up with a different result than the first two. Extremely slow indexing. No Meta tags. Not case sensitive
HotBot I have not really had much luck with this one.Meta tags are recognized. Not case sensitive. It is now owned by Lycos.
Infoseek This is one of the better ones.

Lycos This is supposed to be good, but I find that they do not respond to a lot of different keywords, and it is almost impossible to be listed within a reasonable time frame. . No Meta tags . Not case sensitive
Northern Light is extremely good at finding articles and obscure facts used by doctors and lawyers, but they do charge for some of the articles from its Special Collection. Indexing is rather slow. .Meta tags are recognized. Case sensitive.
The e-mail addresses are not listed automatically, so while you are looking through to find somebody, make sure that you take a minute and list yourself. It really helps. PLEASE.

Switchboard.com US phone numbers, both white and yellow pages, reverse lookup, maps etc. Excellent site, lots of information.

Populus Find e-mail addresses of friends and family
